Why Do You Do Such Things?

What happens when we become idolaters of the heart? What happens when we worship the creature rather than the Creator? We are hardwired by God to worship. We are always worshiping something. Our hearts our constantly worshiping. What effect does the object of the worship of our hearts have on us?
