Our preaching sessions will begin in Hebrews 11-12 to define biblical manhood, then turn to the lives of Noah and Abraham to see it lived out. What is biblical manhood, and how do we refuse to allow the effects of the fall to distort our definition? Our culture hands us two ungodly extremes: a "toxic masculinity" narrative that treats manliness itself as the problem, and a macho manliness that mistakes control and abuse for proof of it. Scripture cuts through both — a biblical man is defined not by rejecting strength or wielding it over others, but by faith: a man who walks with God, takes Him at His Word, and responds in humble obedience, whatever it costs him.
Hebrews 11-12 puts that kind of manhood on display in real, flawed, faithful men, then calls us to run the same race ourselves. Noah and Abraham show us what it looks like lived out — one man standing alone against a world under judgment, another walking a road whose end he could not see.
Session 1 — Defining Biblical Manhood Through Faith: How Does God Describe and Illustrate True Manhood?
Where do you go to figure out what a man is supposed to be? Your father's example? Your culture? Your own failures and successes? Session 1 walks through Hebrews 11-12 and lets God answer that question instead — first in His own words, then through the real, flawed men of faith who ran this race before us.
Session 2 — Noah, A Man Who Walked with God: How Does Faith Stand Alone Against a World Bent on Destruction?
What do you do when everyone around you has walked away from God, and obeying Him makes you look like the crazy one? Genesis calls Noah just, blameless, a man who walked with God — then asks him to spend the better part of a century building a boat for a flood nobody else believed was coming. Session 2 traces that walk, and how Scripture points back to Noah again and again as a picture of the same faith God still asks of us.
Session 3 — Abraham, A Man Who Went Out Not Knowing: How Does Faith Endure a Road That Never Seems to End?
What do you do when the promise is decades off, and every step forward means leaving something certain behind? Abraham left home for a country he'd never seen, waited decades for a promised son, and then was asked to lay that son on an altar. Session 3 traces his faith as a picture of the endurance, patience, and trust every man needs to follow God into the unknown.
